Summary
The present work studies a source of great interest related to the actors and families present in the apparatus of the Hispanic monarchy in the eighteenth century: the marriage records of the officers of the army and navy. These collections have gone practically unnoticed by a large number of historians, an issue that is paradoxical given their richness and the opportunities that their use can offer. The following pages address a study on the characteristics of this documentation, currently
lacking in a comprehensive analysis, with special emphasis on some qualitative examples of Basque and Navarrese officers. In the same way, it will reflect on its importance in the construction of the social history of administration and power, as well as for other currents such as the history of the family.
