Summary
The Elias Salaverria Memorial was a painting competition that was held in the town of Lezo between 1968 and 2000. Created in honour of the famous painter who was born there, this memorial was intented to promote painting in the town and award the best works of art presented. Consequently, although this memorial took into account only the artistic aspect of one particular place, the prizewinning artists and their works are well deserving of an outstanding place in the historical trajectory of art in the Basque Country.
