Summary

In 1982, Jakes Aurnague made, amongst the college girls and boys of the area of Garazi, one of the first sociolinguistic survey in the north of the Basque country. Although unaware of it, he realized a precursory work, both for the extent of the population studied and the spectrum of the variables examined. Twenty years later, Maia Duguine has observed the very same variables amongst young people of Garazi, extending the analysis to other interesting aspects. The first part of the book collects the main elements of the investigation carried out in 1982 by Jakes Aurnague. In the second part, Maia Duguine sets out the results of 2002 and systematically compares them with the measurements obtained in 1982. The prefaces of Erramun Bachoc and Mixel Aurnague describe the conditions in which the initial survey and the project for editing a book came into being. From his part, Richard Bourhis, professor at the University of Quebec in Montreal, underlines, in the postface, the main lessons drawn from the two investigations.
