Summary

This book deals with the history of Gernika-Lumo spanning the last Carlist War and the bombing of 1937. It aims to provide an introduction to the society, economy and politics of that period. It examines the main developments that took place in these different areas. This analysis shows that although Gernika-Lumo was in an agricultural environment, the situation existing there was more modern than might have been expected, in the area of politics, in particular.
