Summary
The history of the search for petrol in the Iberian peninsula cannot be done without analysing in detail the case of Alava. In the centre of the "Basque-Cantabrian geosynclinals", the historical territory of Alava has over 100.000 metres of petrol prospecting, some of which were geologic or energetic landmarks, but which are, however, not well-known, because they were forgotten as the search did not materialise in terms of oil wells.
