The life of Víctor Chavarri Salazar (1854-1900), from Portugalete, was relatively short but intense. In just over twenty years he set up companies, built railways, had a real estate business, and a mining business, etc. always in a constant process of innovation. His businesses determined his dedication to politics and in the late eighteen nineties he became the real cacique of Bizkaia.
