Summary

In this work we present two unpublished 19th-century Basque verse collections from Udabe and Doneztebe/Santesteban. The verses from Udabe criticise two women’s licentious behaviour and those from Doneztebe, the fact that the school teacher got several women pregnant. We describe the contexts of the verses, establish the edition criteria, and edit the texts. We show that the verses spread also in writing, and that the prestigious central variety of the First Modern Basque reached the navarrese versification as well.
