Summary

This article presents a research based on artistic practice, in this line, theartistic process is defended as research. The main theme is the reflection generated bythe artistic process. To develop this thought, the author has based himself on his ownartistic work. This text focuses on the painting entitled Gau Begietan (Eyes of Night); anoil self-portrait made in front of the mirror. The development of the text is not focusedonly on its author, having been necessary to identify themes of common interest, suchas human drama, the shadow as a cluster of meanings and the paradigm between thebackground and the figure, among others. Through an intersubjective discourse, theseare developed by relating personal experience and reflection with the thought of otherartists and thinkers.
